Dear Jan Zuppinger,

We appreciate the fact that you chose PayPal to send and receive
payments
for your transactions.

I apologize for any inconvenience the previous limitation may have
caused
you. After a recent review of your account, we have found that you
have
pictures on your website that may be violating PayPal?s Acceptable Use
Policy regarding Mature Audiences. The Policy prohibits the use of
PayPal
in the sale on any website that have any item that portrays “full”
frontal
nudity. The complete Acceptable Use Policy addressing Mature Audiences
can
be found at the following URL:

In order to avoid the limitation or closure of your account, you will
need
to:

1. Remove those pictures from your website that violate
PayPal?s
Acceptable Use Policy. For example:

2. Submit the online Acceptable Use Policy affidavit

This is not intended to be an all-inclusive review or list of your

described
above are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. It is the
responsibility of the user to ensure that all transactions comply with
the

We encourage you to log in and return your account to good standing as
soon
as possible. Failure to respond by August 28, 2004 will result in the
further escalation of this issue.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Please understand that

i responded:
hi there

thanx for finally informing me why my paypal account has been limited.

now, i am still confused here.

i am certainly not willing to remove the images you point out, because i would argue that this is art.
and, more importantly, i am not trying to sell them!

i am a swiss citizen, where censorship is not quite as extremly prudish as this seems to be the case in the US, and where a project like the jacko nosejobs would be considered artistic.

so what are my other options?

again, i am not selling anything on my website, i simply have a paypal button there for donations!
a donation button that literally nobody has ever used so far. its actually more like a joke in that respect. i keep it there in the esoteric hope that somebody could someday make a donation… but we all agree this is not likely.

i do need a paypal account to pay for software, shareware and other things, therefore i am certainly more than willing to remove the paypal button from my website and to fill out said affidavit and therefore use paypal only to pay money to projects and websites i want to support. not to receive payments.

please inform me if that will be accepted to get my paypal account reinstalled. its seems unlikely that paypal can pressure people to surrender to censorship to keep an account active, or no?
