23, some claim, is an ominous number.
on this 23.11.2002: two of the most important football games in two of the most important football leagues in europe.
in italy: ac milan – inter, the game they call Derby della Madonnina.
and in spain: the eternal derby: barca – real madrid.
milan ac won 1:0. only one goal in what they in italy would call una grande partita, serginho chipped it in after receiving a pass of genius from rivaldo, who used to play for barca.
yet barca – real ended 0:0. the game had to be interrupted for 13(!) minutes, after figo, who used to play for barca, was prevented from taking a corner kick through projectiles from the angry catalan crowd…
now what does this all mean?

i don’t have a fucking clue!

it’s just this game we love …… and try to put meaning into

  1. uuuuuuh, soccer sucks! (which sounds much better than fucking football.) because what is much more important on 23.11. than some paid men kicking and sticking to the same old boring rules with a lot of other not-paid-for-this men (they really do it for free!) looking and shouting and clenching their fists for nothing else but a little piece of ball. well, what is much more important: on 23.11. some 41 years ago one of the nicest guys in the world was born (who never watches football or soccer or any other commercialized sportsevent), who gives a shit about what a-man-has-to-do, who is one of the few people, who can make me laugh laugh laugh – just like that. and who doesn’t stick to those old boring rules, only because they are out there.
yeah, this is what really counts (and not only on 23.11.), that this human being is in the world.
