william “fatty” faulke, the towering 198cm/135kg goalkeeper, played for chelsea during their first season in 1905. he cost the club £20 in transfer fees. because of him chelsea was the first club to introduce ballboys. when co-players made fun of him he would sit on them until they apologised.
needless to say, that with fatty chelsea would surely have kept that ball out… if it was ever in. but i guess we’ll never know.
