swiss federal court rules against tax on mp3 players1 min read

kleinreport and others inform that mp3 players will continue to be sold without a “copyright tax” in switzerland. the federal court yesterday made the according ruling public explaining that the legal grounds to legitimize such a tax were not clear.

this is so the right signal. suisa and the other swiss copyright holder institutions who initiated the ludicrous endeavor to claim such a fee on mp3 player sales will have to accept defeat. consumer rights organsiations have won. so it’s a good day in switzerland. even if a naked american set fire to a church in morges on sunday and miss switzerland only made it to 3rd place in the miss universe competiton. oh and the heat, someone please turn it down already. but other than that, good.
