pictoplasma - call for entries

For PICTOPLASMA PARIS, running from December 6 to 30 2011, Pictoplasma has issued a call for entries for fluffy, hairy, friendly creatures:

CALL FOR ENTRIES: Donate your character for a good cause!

We have renewed our MISSING LINK RESEARCH PROJECT and count on you to help us with our ongoing investigation.

Since 1999 Pictoplasma has been collecting, examining and making comparable an endless, global stream of figurative character designs. By doing so, more often than not, even the slightest shifts in recurring motifs become readable, leading to surprising conclusions to underlaying topics and current zeitgeist trends.

And now, suddenly, they seem to pop up everywhere: white, hairy, friendly creatures, just feature-less enough to serve as the perfect empty screen for viewers to project their own narration, yet exactly the right amount of hairiness, to make you want to get into physical cuddle-mode. Who wouldn’t be reminded of all those archetypical Big Foot, Abominable Snowman and Sasquatch legends – one of the last mysterious entities without a clear depiction in our culture of visual overdose and instant google-search gratification!

PLEASE HELP US and share your graphical character designs of the Yeti, Big Foot, Albino Werewolf, Meh-teh, Nuk-luk, Yeren – or whatever it might be called in your part of the world. By condensing all of these imaginary portraits to their platonic ideal, we hope to get a better understanding of one of our time’s last secret characters. AND: The best entries will be presented as an art installation at the very heart of the upcoming Pictoplasma Paris Exhibition at la Gaîté lyrique

IMPORTANT: Deadline for all entries to reach us is the 31st of October 2011. Please send your graphical creation, against white background, as a jpg measuring 1000 x 1000 pixels, accompanied by a text document with your info (name, address, website and email contact), to: missing_link@pictoplasma.com
