what: diese ist kein flashmob per se, übernimmt jedoch viele elemente von flashmobs.
jede/r bringt eine selbstgebrannte cd vollgepackt mit mp3’s mit. (eine tracklist dazu wäre nice). am treffpunkt wird diese cd mit einem/r anderen flashmp3swapper/in ausgetauscht. um das ganze etwas dramatischer zu gestalten benehmen wir uns wie dealer illegaler waren (zum beispiel indem wir einander die cd’s unter einer jacke versteckt zeigen). nach den austausch verteilen wir uns, wie bei flashmobs üblich, in alle himmelsrichtungen.
why: die musikindustrie hat bekanntlich in den usa zu einer offensive gegen die peer2peer musiktauschbörsen geblasen. 261 leute wurden verzeigt, weitere tausende von anklagen, diesmal ebenfalls in europa, sollen folgen. dabei werden vorallem die anbieter von gröberen datenbanken verfolgt. hingegen wurde das downloaden der mp3’s über peer2peer networks als legal erklärt.
was tun?
da auf dem internet alles eine digitale spur hinterlässt, brauchen wir neue wege der distribution. warum also nicht zurück zum guten alten, analogen, nicht verfolgbaren cd-austausch unter freunden?

die aktion ist vollkommen legal: wir verschenken mp3-cd’s an “freunde”. sie ist aber als eine provokation gegenüber der musikindustrie gedacht.
die musiktauschbörsen lassen sich nicht unterbinden!

what: this is not a flashmob per se, but it adapts many elements of a flashmob.
every flashmp3swapper brings along a burned cd of mp3’s. (a tracklist would be nice). at the meeting place this cd gets swapped with another flashmp3swapper. to make things a bit more dramatic we behave as if we were dealing in something illegal (for instance by showing eachother the cd’s hidden underneath a jacket). after the swap we disperse in all directions, as usual with flashmobs.
why: the musicindustry has been cracking down major against peer2peer fileswappers in the usa. 261 people have been accused, thousands more will follow, next time in europe as well. so far people offering major file databases are being persecuted. on the other hand the act of downloading mp3’s via a filesharing network has been declared legal.
what to do?
since any interaction leaves a digital trail on the internet, we are in need of new ways of distribution. why not go back to good old analogue, untraceable cd-swapping amongst friends?

this action is completely legal: we will simply be making a gift to a “friend”. it is however intended as a provocation adressed towards the musicindustry.
