something kinda messed up, i think, but i am glad it did. a few days ago the solid steel podcast rss feed announced it as the latest edition, but as it turns out it was aired back in january, on 11. 1. 2008 to be precise.

but no matter what, its a real gem of a dj mix by strictly kev dedicated to all things kraftwerk, using mostly music inspired by kraftwerk or versions of their songs spiced up with samples from interviews with them. many materials i had never heard before. i especially love the kalyanji anandji version of das model entitled Y.o.g.a. fantastic.

  • that 1 guy man man

    Jan Zup[ping]er 08:24:04 on 19.10.2007 | 0 Permalink | Reply

there was a time in ancient history, when looking for new music meant visiting actual record stores and maybe buying music magazines.
now i find most of my music online, and, this is a little scarier, through tv series. outch.

well, weeds, really. even people who don’t like weeds as a tv show will usually agree, that weeds comes with an excellent soundtrack.

during the two most recent weeds episodes i discovered two new bands, that i really really like. man man and that 1 guy. both bands come with singers that could be the bastard sons of tom waits, their music comes full of drunken fervor, often tilting towards barely withheld frenzy.

we are man man – myspace
    man man: i, Man face

    that 1 guy – myspace
    the 1 guy: buttmachine [video]

now for something completely different: this next track is an excellent sound collage mixed from game sounds, the music keeps surprising and evolving.

    Viktor Marek & Jacques Palminger:
    Tüdeldub [mp3 | 192 kBit | ca. 6,2 MB]

fantastic dub version of a classic humorous song from hamburg [thx klav!!!!1]

    the original text:

An de Eck steiht ´n Jung mit´n Tüddelband
in de anner Hand ´n Bodderbrood mit Kees,
wenn he blots nich mit de Been in´n Tüddel kümmt
un dor liggt he ok all lang op de Nees
un he rasselt mit´n Dassel op´n Kantsteen
un he bitt sick ganz geheurig op de Tung,
as he opsteiht, seggt he: hett nich weeh doon,
ischa ´n Klacks för ´n Hamborger Jung

    Refrain
Jo, jo, jo, Klaun, klaun, Äppel wüllt wi klaun,
    ruck zuck övern Zaun,
Ein jeder aber kann dat nich, denn he mutt ut Hamborg sien.

  • magic sheep fluff

my mate dj ramax sent me an invite announcing a gig of his new project tastatur. it’s him and daniel wihler, on their myspace you can hear 4 tracks of pretty awesome, clicky funkiness. they play tonite 8.6.2007 11:00 @ formbar, sandrainstrasse 10, 3007 bern, too late for me, but i highly recommend it.

this is what dj ramax defines as magic on his website, sheeeeeeps.mp3 – a must hear.
i love it love it love it, could listen to it all day, on a loop. it reminds me of the frolicking lambs we observed in ireland:

but then as it goes, via youtube, i discovered this video, quite hard to watch, but still magic:

so what am i saying? i have no idea tbh. just another case of clicking around the interweb and some sort of a story emerging. that’s all.
