something kinda messed up, i think, but i am glad it did. a few days ago the solid steel podcast rss feed announced it as the latest edition, but as it turns out it was aired back in january, on 11. 1. 2008 to be precise.

but no matter what, its a real gem of a dj mix by strictly kev dedicated to all things kraftwerk, using mostly music inspired by kraftwerk or versions of their songs spiced up with samples from interviews with them. many materials i had never heard before. i especially love the kalyanji anandji version of das model entitled Y.o.g.a. fantastic.

well, weeds, really. even people who don’t like weeds as a tv show will usually agree, that weeds comes with an excellent soundtrack.

during the two most recent weeds episodes i discovered two new bands, that i really really like. man man and that 1 guy. both bands come with singers that could be the bastard sons of tom waits, their music comes full of drunken fervor, often tilting towards barely withheld frenzy.

my mate dj ramax sent me an invite announcing a gig of his new project tastatur. it’s him and daniel wihler, on their myspace you can hear 4 tracks of pretty awesome, clicky funkiness. they play tonite 8.6.2007 11:00 @ formbar, sandrainstrasse 10, 3007 bern, too late for me, but i highly recommend it.

WHAT: pheew. finally. i’ve worked long, probably too long, on this silly dj mix dedicated to all things plastic. yup. you read that right, it’s an ode to plastic. i produce one longer dj mix per year, usually in november when i spend a month in the mountains. i did start to work on this in november, but for some reason the mix took ages to finish and was shuffled around many times in the process. even if in big parts this is not a propper dj mix, more like a mixtape.

here it is. 26 songs with the word plastic in the title. 1 artist with plastic in his name. 2 mini mixes that are less about plastic. tons of samples from tons of sources with the most recent addition from steve jobs’ keynote a few days ago. and last but not least our friend fred, the voice in my computer, reading this website.

title: making a difference in the world … of warcraft

the mum actually cries when talking about her son’s WoW addiction. sad moment there in the australian news coverage on WoW addiction. the mum claims, her son’s personality has changed. he now swears alot and punches holes into walls. while my personality has not changed, i have always been a nutter, i do have to admit that WoW is sucking me deeper and deeper into its evil grip. looking forward to being a month off this coming november.
best south park episode ever is all that needs to be said about the WoW machinima adventure. hilarious.
and it was hannes, who turned me on to the american TV series weeds, interesting plot idea, and that catchy title song little boxes. thanx mate, now i got it stock in my head too, and you may soon as well. unless you stop this podcast in time. at around 3:30, just when cartman says, the world … of warcraft a last time.

last weekend we had a vote in switzerland that revealed this countries shockingly clear xenophobic face. almost 70% of swiss voters said yes to one of the most restrictive immigrant policies in central europe. the swiss did not go quite as far as pat buchanan, who wants to double fence the US southwest. yet. what a wonderful xenophobic world indeed. naturally we wonder, if we can move to the moon soon. on swissinfo.ch i discovered a rather thinly disguised attempt at image correction, when the two multimedia headlines read: – Generous Swiss break fundraising record – Europe’s first traditional Sikh temple. in all fairness they also feature an interview with historian hans-ulrich jost, switzerland has a xenophobic heritage.

all music and audio is borrowed with the utmost respect for its creators. however, i do consider this to be fair use. this material is created purely for fun, to share with my online friends. there is no commercial transaction involved. as a long-time dj i own 5’000+ albums in vinyl and quite a few cd’s. all the music i use for these mixes, i either own a copy of or it was released under a CC-license to begin with.
i release all my work, the dj work as well as all my other coding and creating, under a creative commons license, hence i treat this material as if it was under CC license. i attribute it and i do not use it for commercial gain. don’t try to sue me, i am broke anyway.
