pieceoBabbel stuff what spidy tought us

spidyoh spidy. such a tough fellah. and you should see the spiderweb now. its a porsche of a spiderweb. and my car is a renault. my car looks shabby next to it. i still dont know how i should break this to spidy.

but thats not all. spidy is teaching me things.

like, we all know how spiders react to movement in their spiderweb. they think an insect got caught and is kicking it. so they creep out of their hiding place with their long ass legsies and check/storage/eat what got caught.
well guess what, spidy stopped. every time i used to drive my car - which obviously is the time when i observe spidy - the spiderweb started moving from the drive wind. spidy used to fall for it and come out of his hiding space - inside the rearview mirror - to get caught struggling with the strong drift. but not anymore. spidy has learned that movement does not equal movement. smart spidy.
(to be honest, i was slightly surprised back when spidy did come out. i mean, that was very optimistic. what did spidy think got caught in the web, what could move it that much? a bird?)

like, have you ever observed how a spider will check out the things that got caught in its web and how it flicks away things that are not food. that movement - the flick - is magic. its a gesture of contempt, of routine, of craftiness. it expresses so much emotion. i am convinced spiders are the inventors of the elegant fuck-you gesture. cool spidy.

sometimes i think about putting some “food” in its web. i should, no? what does it like most? wasps? flies? bugs? none of the above? lets test this…

pieceoBabbel thing is,

thing is, i dont drink alcohol. thats often a problem. sometimes i have to explain.

thing is, i dont like alcohol. not its taste. not the feeling it gives me. it makes me silly and stupid. and aggressive. which all these things i can acces easily without alcohol - thank you very much. and dont even get me started on the peer pressure issue… alcohol. the. social. drug.

thing is, i am a heroin man. thats the high i want. the high clostest to the way i ultimately want to be. centered. mellow. cool. zen.

thing is, heroin kills. heroin is too damn dangerous. its lethal. it killed me my liver already. plus its too damn addictive. i tried it once. and from then on for 2 years straight. daily. that good! more and more of it. that no good! this was 20 years ago…

thing is, i can’t do my favorite drug ever again. or die. sometimes i imagine my suicide as follows: its summer, i am naked on a lonely mountain top using heroin one last time. if my pain gets too much, i might do this… but i still cant decide if suicide is even an option.

thing is, if not heroin, nothing… so i am clean and sober. which i am meant to be, if its life that i choose. i am meant to find the high i described earlier through natural means. and the question may be allowed: would it still be called a “high” then?

thing is, to use a tried and tired image: heroin showed me the top of the mountain. now i have to find my own way up there.

thing is, drugs are good for that. and almost only for that. they show us whats possible. they set up the challenge. think of pills. especially pills. empathy. nice mountain top that.

thing is, there is only one way to the moutain top. up. but then again, maybe its down. and we just think its up. a trick of the mind.

thing is, what i look for is already here. always has been. always will be. it just is. the work is to stop believing that its not. which mind will always almost convince me to be true. but thats just mind. and this just is.

[and before you call me a sexist: i know from honest sources, that many women enjoy checking out athletes bodies]

and this is cruel, yet very funny [i mean did she have to do it twice?]:

* An Open Letter To Paula Radcliffe: “Dear Paula, We, the English nation, feel your pain and disappointment almost as acutely as you do. But the fact remains, you have brought shame on yourself and us. It is important to keep a sense of perspective about sporting events. But, by not being the best runner, you have negated not only the concept of ‘perspective’, but also honour and morality. If you had even the slightest sense of decency, there would only be one word on your mind: suicide…”

lets call this image gymnasty

remains only one question unsolved, what will i do next week?

edit: oh and i almost forgot: if i hear this fucking zorba the greek sirtaki one more time i. will. scream.

better living through chemistry: i found this while working on yesterdays GGGstrip .
a woman’s struggle with chemicals that will turn her into man… better living through chemistry is a website that “deals with my transition into manhood.”
“This website deals with issues around my medical transition.” it even has voice clips demonstrating the voice drops…
oh the glorious interweb…

pieceoBolitix nyc protests cynical republicans

bush just had to do it. the republican party just had to bully.
it was received as an almost cynical decision to hold the republican national convention in new york city, where 4 out of 5 registered voters are democrats. new york city, traditionally one of the strongholds of the democrats.
it was meant as a manifestation of their supremacy, a blatent try to use the tragic memory of 9/11 in their favor.
but that provocative decision could backfire, dubya. the protests will be fierce, and very well organised.
[but maybe thats the big plan here, see bellow…]
gosh i wish i could be in new york this next week…

nyprotesters websites:
http://www.rncnotwelcome.org/
http://www.stillwerise.org/
http://www.counterconvention.org/
http://www.notinourname.net/rnc/
http://www.rncguide.com/

and there’s a shared moblog set up @ moport.org.
send emails to rnc [at] moport [dot] org.
the shared moblog will go public sunday august 29th. here’s a teaser:
nycprotest

these protests could get extremly violent, the confrontation will be so immediate.
but some people point out that violent protests could have a contrary effect:

With Kerry taking a moderate stance on the war, these demonstrations have little, if anything, to do with the Democratic party. None the less, many believe that whoever is responsible, a rash of violence so close to the election will once again benefit the Republicans. “If I were a voice in top Republican circles, I might be offering this advice: ‘What we need for New York is a large-scale riot,’ ” wrote Norman Mailer in New York magazine recently, in a public written exchange with his son. “I don’t have a great deal of hope that most of the people involved are really thinking of this election so much as expressing the need to vent, to gain some self-therapy.”

[from the guardian]

in other news: http://www.campaignsongs.com/, unter the pseudonym the integral, a man who supposedly is an influential congressional staffer, has published a cd of electro-remixes of campaign songs from the last 20 years. wtf? oh the glorious digital lifestyle.
