irgendwann ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich am sonntag meist ein bisschen persönlicher blogge, fast schon kolumnenhaft. opinionated blogging. vor 2 wochen dann habe ich angefangen diese ergüsse blogumne zu nennen. dies soll aber keinesfalls so ein gequältes ding werden. ich werde mir nicht gehauen oder gestochen jeden sonntag etwas aus den fingern saugen. und schon heute fällt mir eigentlich nichts schlaues ein. ich muss wohl an writer’s blog leiden (bloggers block tönt einfach zu beschissen) und sollte mich am besten wieder ins bett kuscheln (es ist erst 5.15 und falls man die umstellung zur winterzeit beachtet glaubs noch tragischer). also schreib ich mal einfach so drauf los. stream of conciousness, mal sehen wohin es mich treibt. na, zum weltuntergang natürlich. der scheint bekanntlich gerade gross in mode zu sein. das magazin brachte gestern bereits das zweite portrait eines endzeittheoretikers innerhalb weniger monaten. komisch.

moment. eigentlich wollte ich doch über das gestrige flickr switzrland treffen in bern schreiben. aber dazu fällt mir irgendwie nichts ein. am tisch im il grissino hatte es im vergleich zum bloggertreffen vor ein paar monaten mehr kameras und weniger laptops. (übrigens fanden beide treffen am gleichen tisch in der gleichen kneipe statt - is there a pattern emerging?). ich gebe zu, eigentlich war es von vorherein klar, dass hier kameras die hauptrolle einnehmen würden. logisch, bei einem flickr meetup. ich depp hatte natürlich meine richtige kamera zuhause vergessen. “dies sind photographen nicht geeks”, wisperte mir matthias irgendwann beschwörend zu. den genauen zusammenhang habe ich vergessen, ich muss die leute irgendwie als geeks bezeichnet haben. die davids und die goliaths des kamerauniversums standen und blitzen da rum. die meisten auf kleinen sexy tisch tripods, wie sagt man denen auf deutsch? ultraklein neben übergross. pizzateller, grosse kamera, pizzateller, kleine kamera; und ich mitten drin mit meinem nokia 7650. als kamera. note to self: nächstes mal muss ich mindestens ein my-other-camera-is-a-sony tshirt tragen. nein. doof!

tonnenweise digitale kameras. und irgendwie roch es komisch, so süsslich, der geruch kam mir verflucht bekannt vor. unter dem tisch standen zwei einkaufstüten mit Lush produkten. stephanie und ihre kollegin chris waren vor dem flickr treffen bei Lush einkaufen gegangen. stolz zeigte stephanie uns ihre schätze, die glitterbugs, shampoobars und wie sie alle heissen. sowie die lush times, die hauseigene zeitung zum lush lifestyle. “If Lush was a band, we’d play live”, steht da. i kid you not. ach und noch was habe ich gelernt, Lush seifen stinken nicht alle so absolut grausam wie man meinen könnte. ich war überrascht, weil den Lush laden in bern hatte ich bisher noch nie betreten; im gegenteil, ich hatte ihn gemieden wie die pest. wegen dem gestank, sorry geruch, wechsle ich sogar meist die strassenseite. besser so, wenn ich keine allergische attacke kriegen will. eine idee hatten wir noch, lush.com, jetzt die website, sollte riechen. wär doch auch irgendwie ein geiles ding, olfaktorisches surfen. moment. wohl doch lieber nicht.

zurück zum weltuntergang, was mich erstaunt ist, dass sowohl jared diamond, naturwissenschafter und endzeittheoretiker, gestern, wie james e. hansen, klimaforscher, vor ein paar monaten sich trotz all den derben fakten, die sie so locker auftischen, als optimisten bezeichnen. oder vielmehr frage ich mich wie die das machen? gibts da einen trick? einen artikel mit einer solchen anleitung wünsche ich mir bald, wie bleibe ich optimistisch, obschon alle fakten auf einen baldigen weltuntergang hindeuten. das wär mal was brauchbares.

Second Life: i am still totally lost. what am i supposed to do here? i mean besides shopping - ugh. i hate shopping enough in rl. so. uhm - and buying land - which i can’t afford and all the good plots seem taken. i did find joi ito’s and the make magazine land. i like that. they have some cool stuff laying around there. then one very kind woman gave me tons of goth clothing. so i now carry a dagger on my back and wear weird plastic pants. and naturally i made my skin as pale as possible. but uhm. what else? another woman told me when she goes to sleep she stays logged in and dances all night. she has a little programm on her computer that keeps her mouse moving so the system won’t put her in away-mode and log her out. this whole build your own virtual world thing is very fascinating, yet oddly dissapointing as well somehow. are lingerie stores and bingo really all we can come up with?

mobile games: keith stuart has posted an article some interesting mobile games @ the guardian games blog. some of the examples he mentions do in fact sound cool. i especially like the idea of games that will use the mobile phones camera feature and the multi-user game. maybe on my next phone i can play some of these. [nokia! get that N91 out already!]

high scores: aleks krotoski asks what lengths have you gone to for a high score? and people answer. some hilarious responses.

One of my friends rigged his PS1 controller so that he could level grind his characters in FFVII without him being around. He just left the machine on, and set up the controller using an intricate system of rubberbands and bracing the controller against a hard surface, and off it went.

i am very aware of this subject, because currently franziska and i are locked in a heavy high score battle playing lumines on the PSP. i am in the lead, but constantly afraid that she will beat me. she desperately tries to catch up. we have even considered getting a second PSP so both of us can play. mad.

november 27th bern will vote on the so-called reitschule-initiative. yet again.
pretty much one month before the popular vote there will be a huge party this weekend @ reitschule bern.
28. - 30. october 2005
with concerts [funkstörung!], djs, theater, open mic, movies, food etc.

for those of you who don’t know, reitschule is one of the last, if not THE last, autonomous cultural centers in europe. it has survived, with some interruptions, pretty much from the early 80’s to now. it is run collectively and hosts among other things a club, a cinema, a theater, a restaurant and a huge multipurpose hall. over the years the lively and politically very active place has been the subjected to heavy rightwing lobbying to have it shut down. it will be crucial to get a no on november 27th. more info on this here. disclaimer: ich bin ein riesenarschloch und habe von fast gar nichts eine ahnung.

having said that, habe ich gerade schampar lust chantal michel zu dissen. weil chantal michel stellt dieses wochenende im ehemaligen luxus hotel schweizerhof die bilder aus, die seit mai dieses jahr dort enstanden sind. für nicht-berner, das hotel schweizerhof ist das fünf stern hotel, welches letztes jahr auf solch tragische weise konkurs gegangen ist. ja, genau dort wo christoph blocher immer abgestiegen ist, bevor er bundesrat wurde und seither die brunngasse verschandelt. aber das ist ein andere geschichte.

von der kunst hat mir natürlich nichts gefallen. ausser vielleicht das eine bild wo chantal’s beine unterm teppich herausstecken oder das andere mit der maske. aber nur vom sujet her. die idee die werke zum teil in den gleichen räumen auszustellen, wo sie auch entstanden sind, ist amüsant - etwa eine minute lang… aber damit hat sich’s auch schon. sogar die photos an sich, jetzt mal rein technisch betrachtet, sind müll; schlecht ausgeleuchtet, flach vergrössert, nicht mal die ausschnitte wirklich gelungen. eine katastrophe. eine unglaublich teuer angeschriebene katastrophe (17 400.- ist der spitzenpreis, im schnitt so um die 9000.-). zumindest einen neuen photographen sollte sie sich zulegen, die frau michel.

aber noch viel grundsätzlicher sind solche photosessions in leeren gebäuden doch schlicht passé, bitte liebe kunstwelt, sei mit mir einverstanden. das konnte man vielleicht in der achtzigern des letzten jahrhunderts noch geben. und erst die gespiegelten photomontagen, sowas entdeckt computeranwender bei seinem ersten photoshop kürsli, sind zu verdammt neunziger.

der trick bei solch narzistischer selbstdarstellung ist, dass es allen peinlich ist. die leute kaufen aus schamgefühlen, weil sie sich in ihren voyeuristischen tendenzen ertappt fühlen. der ehrliche voyeur, der wie ich zu seiner veranlagung steht, kann ob dem gebotenen bloss enttäuscht bleiben. doch chantal ist clever. sie wendet sich an den klammheimlichen voyeur, der sich hinter einem interesse für die kunst versteckt. nennen-wir-ihn-franz nennt diese art kunstinteressierte “die lustmolche”.

die vernissage selber war ein sogenanntes tout-berne. von chairman tschäppätt bis zum hinterletzten kunstfutzie standen sich alle auf den füssen rum. chantal michel stand, typisch narzistin, fast schüchtern rum. komischerweise kann ich mich nur vage daran erinnern, aber ich glaube sie trug blumen im arm. sie konnte einem fast leid tun, weil sie allen lustmolchen auch noch die hand drücken musste, sie anlächeln musste und schlimmeres. ein riesen gedrängel, und wir mittendrin, peinlich peinlich. und trotzdem bin ich im nachhinein froh, dass wir an der vernisssage waren, weil ab samstag kostete der eintritt 3 franken. eindeutig zu teuer.

es wäre jetzt müssig zu spekulieren wieviele der besucher am freitag bloss wegen dem schweizerhof da waren. ich jedenfalls war nur, und dies betone ich hier mit nachdruck, NUR wegen dem luxus hotel da. den schweizerhof musste ich mir mal geben, bevor sie ihn jetzt in ein weiteres shopping center verwandeln. ich schlage übrigens einen mediamarkt vor, damit wir nicht immer nach hinterdingsbums rausfahren müssen. more shopping braucht die welt. der schweizerhof war erstaunlich schmuddelig und klaustrophobisch, kein wunder … nein, die aussichten hingegen eindrücklich; wir sind auf balkone rausgeschlichen, die es eigentlich nicht geben dürfte.

aber das eigentliche highlight der chantal michel show fand eh eine woche vorher statt als die “künstlerin” letzten samstag beim schweizerhof aufs dach geklettert war um ihre show anzupreisen. die polizei erhielt prompt massenweise anrufe besorgter mitbürgerInnen; da sei eine auf dem dach und wolle sich umbringen. und, okay, die offensichtlich pointe verkneife ich mir hier. ja, die vom suizid der vielleicht allen dienen würde. nein, die wäre jetzt doch zu derb.

eines bereue ich sehr. eigentlich hatten wir eine sehr geniale idee. überall lagen nähmlich schweizerhof nähetuis rum - beruhigend dass die auch im luxushotel gleich trashig daherkommen - und darauf klebte folgende botschaft: “es muss ja kein luxushotel sein … chantal michel braucht bis ende 2006 eine neue wohnung, villa, fabrikhalle, tankstelle oder ähnliches. hinweise an: [telefonnummer]”.
wir wollten rasch einen rl hack machen und stattdessen unsere telefon nummer daraufkleben. bei den vorstellungsgesprächen würde nennen-wir-ihn-franz eine perücke tragen und nicht viel sagen. sollte eigentlich klappen. wir suchen nämlich auch eine tankstelle. bloss schade, dass wir es nicht gemachat haben.

und ja. ich gebe zu, chantal michels telefon nummer hab ich jetzt auch in meinem handy abgelegt, gleich neben der von christina aguilera und nicky hilton, der schwester von paris hilton, seit dem berühmten sidekick desaster.
