diese meine sonntäglichen blogumnen sind bekanntlich immer dem thema gewidmet, welches mich momentan am meisten beschäftigt. richtig, so spart man sich den therapeuten. diese woche beschäftigt mich, wie einige von euch möglicherweise erraten können, nur ein thema, und zwar die betupften egos der blogger aus der westschweiz. nach bekanntgabe der nominationen für die Swiss Blog Awards sind die emotionen so richtig übergeschäumt; einiges davon ist verständlich, anderes ist schlicht und ergreifend absurd. bei mir sind dadurch viele fragen und gedanken zum konflikt zwischen dem französisch- und dem deutschsprachigen teil dieses landes aufgetaucht. bisher gab es den röstigraben in meinem leben eigentlich nicht, im gegenteil, kulturell und politisch fühlte ich mich oft den romands sogar näher. und siehe da, plötzlich, innert weniger stunden und tage, hat sich ein röstigraben vor mir aufgetan.

dies schreit natürlich nach einer blogumne. doch diese woche spiele ich mal taktisch klug - und schreibe den beitrag nicht. das thema kann gut bis nächste woche warten, der röstigraben dürfte in der zwischenzeit nicht wieder zugeschüttet worden sein. denn ich will ja momentan kein öl in die suppe, übrigens auch kein salz ins feuer, werfen.

edit: unfortunately i had to leave 45 min. into the presentation - and franziska 1 hour later - because we had to finish the swiss blog awards booklet, so we prolly both missed the grande finale, where etoy revealed that mission eternity is a hoax after all, so now saying “very interesting project” the joke is fully on me. but i really do like the idea; its snappy, its multi-faceted, its somehow “grown up”, if i may say so. however franziska said it best when she came back from the presentation: she would prefer a service that deletes all the junk that she leaves behind after she dies, instead of prolonging the mess in such a way. and, all things considered, i agree with her.

sadly blogstetten is not reachable via the otherwise very good public transportation system known as SBB/RSS.

ok ok. soon sooon sooooon we will be ready to communicate the nominees for the 1. swiss blog awards. at this point 10 of the 15 have formally accepted their nominations.

meanwhile allow me to brag for a few seconds, please. may i? nevermind that question, i’ll brag anyway.

yesterday my ego was blown up almost to burst - hmmm, this does somehow sound much better in french, gonfle a bloque - for …ohhh… maybe 30 seconds when i saw that pieceoplastic.com, or rather my silly weekly podcast aka pieceocast, was nominated for the category “multimedia”.

naturally i declined, because i had to leave at least a chance at winning to my competitors i am part of the organising comitee. grml umpf [never again am i gonna let such a chance slip, man]

i knowww, ego is silly. i knowww, the long tail is way cooler. i knowww, who cares. but it just felt good. and blah. and thanx to anybody who nominated me and i do mean besides my chinese hackers.

ding, back online, back multi-tasking, juggling 1 million things, all my peace and equanimity gone and it only took minutes. zing zonked. oink. i am getting better and better at this. if better is indeed the word here.

today as we drove back from that lovely peaceful house in them (overrated) swiss mountains, we made two horrible discoveries:

1. bschütti

yup, it’s that time of the year again when swiss farmers dump shitloads of …erm… shit onto fields aka bschütti = that totally smelly stuff with that super distinctive “bouquet”. bschütti is created by gathering all the smelliest stuff that cows and other animals release over the winter, the smelliness is then improved in containers, in which this stuff can fester and develop mold for a few months. then, come spring, the whole stinking mess gets dumped from tractors onto fields, so that everybody can hate farmers for a few days.

suddenly it occured to us, we have both only ever smelled this stuff in switzerland.
or have you ever smelled it anywhere else besides here?
it must be illegal in all other countries, we went on to speculate, because of the germs.
of course, sounds logical, or does it not?

2. capital impressions

you know how on swiss freeways cities and regions have these silly signs with claims, don’t ask, it’s a swiss thing. so when we approached bern, our sad and very very boring hometown, where we live, because .. erm … we dont know why, we had to read on a sign, that bern now has very sad new claim, and that new claim is, hold your breathe: capital impressions.
well?
sadder than sad. pathetic. desperate. as impressive as capital an error, if you ask me.

as usual in such occasions we tried to imagine the meeting where the guy from the PR agency pitches this new claim to the comitee.
wow, must they all have been on drugs that day. and i want some of those drugs. right about now.
