i went out bought an actual notebook and i’ll be taking notes with an actual pen, omg. piece o plastic goes piece o paper. i might post the notes sometime later. i might not. at any rate it looks like i’ll be taking the theme of this year’s festival, simplicity, quite literal.

as usual i feel small facing the huge mass of information in front of me. there is so much input to be prossessed, it fills me with a feeling a bit like humility. but i am not worried. soon i will be my usual obnoxious and opinionated self again. sadly.

for some reason i was less exited anticipating it this year, but now that in am here, in linz again, still fugly, still great, i am quite looking forward to this years’s festival. the theme, simplicity, is something i am very interested in regaining in my life. i am looking forward to spending a day in the country, to seeing more of the toshio iwai’s, john maede’s, jason kottke’s and the many more’s, to hanging out with friends and aquaintances. fellow swiss blogger hannes gassert [artcast] is here with his gear park of laptops, microphones and cameras, that, surprise surprise, fits in one tiny metal suitcase alongside his tshirts, socks and stuffs. what a pleasant surprise to meet him at the trainstation last night. and what a right ars electronica noob he is; at least physically, he has never been here. he of course turns this around and teases me calling me a veteran with my 7. [!] visit this year. i immediatley removed the badges from the previous years from my backpack. gah.

weird. i quite like plazes, a geo-positioning application, that shows the places you are at. they have recently made some updates to the application as well as to their website.

on my computer plazes is usually just running quietly in the background and i don’t pay it much mind.
but now that i am getting my laptop ready for the trip to linz and to ars electronica i checked it out with more attention again.

and lo and behold what do you know, according to plazes.com i have moved…
to tiefenaustrasse of all places… no offense.
here is the page where it says “jan zuppinger (aka pieceoplastic). I am currently at a Plaze called Tiefenaustrasse in Bern, Switzerland.” lies, presposterous lies. don’t believe a word. i have never been there, nor do i plan to go in the near future. yet plazes tells me i have been there for 209 hours! he he
i even vaguely remember that this guy emailed me once telling me about this. should have paid more attention then. it probably went to one of my very low priority to-do-lists. but anyway. uhm.

how do i reset this now? i clicked around the website in vain for awhile and i am either too stupid or it is not possible to change this.

the funny thing is, in the title of the website it says “plazes - we know where - plazed:tiefenaustrasse/etc/etc”

no you don’t. thats not where i am nor have ever been. sorry. try again please.

above photo shows our living room table. it can be pulled out to seat up to 8 people (if we manage to find enough chairs).
on wednesday 13. september 19:00 6 of these chairs will be available to the first 6 commentators commiting themselves to attend.
anyone is welcome. i hope to see some familiar as well as some surprising faces.

we will serve a simple vegetarian meal. BYOB (bring your own booze).

if this works, i of course hope that someone else takes up the idea … yeah? who else likes this idea?
