last weekend we had a vote in switzerland that revealed this countries shockingly clear xenophobic face. almost 70% of swiss voters said yes to one of the most restrictive immigrant policies in central europe. the swiss did not go quite as far as pat buchanan, who wants to double fence the US southwest. yet. what a wonderful xenophobic world indeed. naturally we wonder, if we can move to the moon soon. on swissinfo.ch i discovered a rather thinly disguised attempt at image correction, when the two multimedia headlines read: - Generous Swiss break fundraising record - Europe’s first traditional Sikh temple. in all fairness they also feature an interview with historian hans-ulrich jost, switzerland has a xenophobic heritage.

i know i know, 9/11 is last weeks news. but its never too late to make fun of mr. bush. and who better suited than jon steward/the daily show. an icecream truck transformed into a mobile karaoke unit sounds like fun. i asked fred, the voice in my computer, to perform for us. he agreed and delivered, even if in his usal grumpy style. superstition ain’t the way. meanwhile ze frank has collected remixes of the cute song a father wrote for his daughter who had troubles on her job. watch out, i’m about to whip somebody’s ass. no worries, just humming it to myself.

yesterday i met my mum for coffee and she gave me some cool family info. not only was my greatgrandfather on the grandfather’s side the big boss at SBB, swiss railway company, but the other one, my stepgreatgrandfather so to speak, was the vise-president at the PTT, the swiss postal service. so together they pretty much pwned the swiss public service sector mid past century.
hah.
a google search gave me nothing on either of them. maybe thats my job … maybe start a wiki with family info?
