To celebrate the release of his critically acclaimed new album “The Outsider” DJ Shadow & Island Records are inviting fans and aspiring creatives to submit videos for his next single “This Time”. Visual representation, whether it be through video or artwork, has always been a vital ingredient in Shadow’s work. From the memorable cover artwork on his seminal debut “Endtroducing…” to his collaboration on the “Dark Days” movie, to the animation used on the “Mashin’ on The Motorway” video, the stunning live visuals of his live performances, and the most recent collaboration with Banksy for the artwork on “The Outsider”, Shadow has successfully married the audio and the visual like no other artist.

edit: i admit i am completely biased, but i think this latest issue of frenZINE is totally genius. this kind of idea is really how a flash screen magazine can be actually better than a real book. as a kid i used to love this type of books (smebody got a name for them?), playing around with them for hours, re-arranging heads with torsos and feet. the kicker here is that there’s an animation when you make them match. brilliant. and i can instantly think of so many variations on the theme … fantastic job, franziska!
