Desperate times, when the fucking COVID-19 pandemic clearly is not over, but while i (and we) still want to avoid getting infected, BECAUSE FUCKING REASONS, almost everyone else just pretends that it is over. Even the US president mumbled something along those lines.

That long excerpt from the Death Panel podcast (this podcast is my safe heaven, i love these people so so very much, they are simply amazing, thank you) explains how the sociological production of the end of the pandemic, an example of manufacturing consent (-> Chomsky), is motivated by economic factors only and nothing else. It has nothing to do with reality. It has nothing to do with science. It was just decided.

Basically people needed to be forced back to work and since the pandemic is not actually over (people still fall very ill and die from it), the lie just got repeated until everyone, down to the last one of us, will either be dead or was successfully gaslit into accepting serial infections.

As one of these so-called “vulnerable” people (which i hate being called. i am not fucking vulnerable. this is not my fault, fucking assholes calling me that) i feel completely abandoned. As a chronically ill person (with a slim chance of ever getting better at this point) i am now in the same predicament disabled and chronically ill people have been in for years, one where i am forced to witness and experience first hand the ableist and eugenic attitude governing our life under late stage capitalism.

But make no mistake, this is not a new thing, this has always been the case. Listen to disabled people! Among the major constructs of discrimination, it is ableism that most easily gets forgotten. Eugenics never actually left, just hid its evil game better. And don’t get me started on the radical lefts complete failure on this issue. What a huge disappointment.

So there we are.

When the powers that be abandoned the project of eliminating the virus, people like me are thrown under the bus, left to fend for ourselves, forced to self-isolate, to hide away in our apartments and to wait, hope, pray or whatever the fuck (no, i don’t fucking pray, there is no fucking god. are you kidding me? how could a fucking god allow such a mess?), that they somehow survive this case of mass collective madness.

The entitled dickheads running the show have decided, that – in order to keep the capitalist system running – we need to somehow “learn to live with the virus”.

Which is an absurd idea.

You can’t “live with a virus” that does not allow people to develop lasting immunity (except in certain people with the right mix of T-cells). You can’t “live” with, you can only die of such a virus OR you can develop LongCOVID, like i have, or develop various other terrible, still mostly ignored long term outcomes. You can’t “live with a virus”, when the chances of getting LongCOVID worsen with every new infection.

At this rate there is no way around it. Soon many more people will have to re-invent their lives through brain fog and pain and almost daily bursts of fear of death. LongCOVID is not much of a life. In fact death would come as a relief at this point.

It feels like i have been screaming at the top of my lungs, trying to warn people. You do not want to risk getting LongCOVID. You simple do not. Trust me. Please. I tried this out for you. It ain’t fun. And it is avoidable. Just don’t get infected. Demand mitigating protective measures.

I have been screaming this for two fucking years and almost nine fucking months.

But very very few actually fucking listen.

My frustration is huge, as you may have noticed. This has been a very sweary rant. Sorry not sorry.

We still must stop this fucking virus somehow!

It’s unbearable having to watch this mass disabling event unfold in front of my eyes – and there’s nothing nothing nothing i can do.

So, naive idiot that i still am, i thought i should make a mix tape (ha ha ha, fat lot of good this will do, lol, what an idiot i am).

When i started to look around for tracks about the pandemic, i found out that while there is a ton of music, not a lot of it is great. But i did find some gems. I think. I also remembered a song by my old friend Jules, that he recorded in the 80s during the AIDS pandemic in San Francisco, which would have been perfect somehow, but i used only a snipplet of of it, because i know he is not too happy about this song anymore (I wish you could hear the entire song, but it’s not up to me).

Trying to protect myself while everyone walks all over me
Trying to protect ourselves while everyone walks all over us

So there you have it, another Pieceocast, a podcast of sorts. In a way. Possibly. Maybe. Guaranteed without me talking, just music and samples!

If you enjoy it, please tell a friend.

Also. Schnapszahl-alert.
