in appenzell, a very hick [and i would add: thick] part of switzerland, they celebrate new years on january 13. japs
this is declared as an ongoing protest against some pope, who way back when had dared to adjust the calendar by 13 days; well in fact he had done so in order to make it correspond better with the passing seasons.
but this was making the count without them guys in appenzell.
they said: not with us, dude! and to this day each year they be flicking the pope off by celebrating new years on the wrong day.
