This will be my last DJ mix. I had fun making them, but I am getting too old for this. Always one for the “grand” (yet meaningless) gestures, I ended my “career” as a club DJ when I turned 40, since next April I will turn 60 (oh my flying spaghetti monster), it is time to call it quits as a bedroom DJ as well. A considerable amount of work and time goes into creating these mixes. It’s also play time, so I does not really count, but still. I do have to admit, it didn’t help that I hardly ever received any feedback for them.

Message received. It might be well past time to move on. The world will definitely be fine without these silly DJ mixes. Who has time for them anyway these days, aye?

And since no one has time for them, I decided to make this last one an extra long one. Ha ha. The plan was to make it 13 hours 12 minutes long (kidding). Well, not quite, but 2:23 is not half bad. As always featuring the usual great tracks from these past few years, I simply needed to include some of my all time favorite bands, producers and songs.

As always I hope you, the imaginary listener, can laugh and cry and dance and shiver while listening to it. If not, this is pointless.

So what are my plans for the rest of my life, you the imaginary listener (don’t) ask me. I am now so hypersensitive that life actually hurts. Listening to music? It fucking hurts. Doing this mix. It fucking hurt every time I put on my headphones.

My tinnitus is driving me up the wall.

I feel so raw and vulnerable that I would love to spend the rest of my life in an opium den, getting higher chasing the black rabbit to numb the pain, because nothing is real until I find peace. I honestly hope that me in 20 years is not on the table, but at any rate, I will fight with love, you can ask me in 20 years (again), i guess, but the children will rise up and so the last word, it goes to Nandi, Peace Out.

Obviously since opium dens no longer exist I will have to find another way to find good quality drugs, that aren’t produced either in a totalitarian regime or by big pharma.

Also of course, if you enjoy this mix, please pass it along.

Peace out, Selectah J.
