Title: Luther Blissett Made Me Do It

It has melted

This mix came from a fluke idea. I recently read the book Q comme complot by Wu Ming 1. In the second part of the book, the dream part, i noticed how the author kept weaving the songs into the story that played on the radio in the corner of the room. So i started to listen to these songs while reading the book and later, playing around with them, i gave myself the challenge to make a mix using all the songs mentioned in the book (which i did, but i kinda cheated towards the end).

The result is a pretty wild ride across styles, tempi and musical time periods. Technically the mix is far from perfect, you will find mistakes. It was more like a sketch, and usually i would not release sketches. But i thought, what the hell, it’s kind of fun. To make it perfect (and i never really do perfect) i would have to spend a ridiculous amount of time and i already spent lots of time on it as is.

Also R.I.P Angelo Badalamenti

Some conspiracy theories turned out to be true

So here it is in all its imperfection. I hope you enjoy it.

Happy Gaslitmas to everyone out there.

P.S.: I hesitated to post this mix because the book Q comme complot, that gave me the idea, turned out to be a mixed bag. In 1999 Wu Ming had published a book entitled Q, which was the story of a mysterious conspiratorial figure in the middle ages manipulating his fellow citizens with hoaxes and misinformation. So naturally, when QAnon appeared in 2018 in the USA some people thought this had to be a hoax by the Wu Ming collective, who used to practice this exact media tactic in the 90s (under the moniker Luther Blissett). The author debunks this rumor, and proceeds to take an in depth look at QAnon to place it in a historic context of conspiracy myths and antisemitic thought spanning back to the middle ages and beyond, while at the same time deconstructing conspiracy myths in an inspiring way. The book is overall a fantastic read, but sadly becomes pretty problematic when the author talks about the COVID-19 pandemic.
