is there any italian out there who can help me? on mondays there is a weekly column in the gazzetta dello sport called “zupping“.
my last name is zuppinger, so of course i am quite curious what the hell zupping means. as far as i can tell the column comments misshapps on TV.
but shouldn’t it be called “zapping” then?
I think it’s a mix between ‘zapping’ and ‘zuppa’.
‘Zuppa’ means ‘soup’ and is usually used metaphorically in italian to define something tedious, well-known, boring or repetitive (‘the usual zuppa’).
thanx for the explanation, man. and i do understand a bit better the smile i receive when mentioning my name in italy…
